Ameretat is the duo of S and K, children of the Iranian diaspora with family divided across borders. Their music draws on Iranic traditions while colliding with the raw energy of crust and hardcore. Distorted feedback recalls regional drone instruments, echoing the anarcho-punk urgency of Rudimentary Peni and the bleak heaviness of Union of Uranus and Dystopia.
Fusing old and modern forms, the project confronts war, power, love, despair, and kindness through lyrics in Persian, Avestan, Lori, Kurdish, and English. The result is a charged sound that is both rooted in heritage and defiantly forward-facing.
