The Black Wizards - Killing The Buzz

7" Vinyl Single

Tracklist:

tbc

Their first new music since 2019, 'Killing The Buzz' sees The Black Wizards entering a new era, with their first release via Hassle Records. Signalling a bold step forward in sound, they shift towards a raw, garage-driven sound, built around direct arrangements, live energy and a strong sense of urgency.

The Porto-based trio lay down a striking first impression on the single: Joana Brito’s wiry, spitfire vocals volley off JosĂ© Gomes’ gravelly replies, over a chugging, serpentine groove propelled by Helena Peixoto’s restless percussion. “Do you print yourself out pretty to look better in banners?” Brito questions archly, referencing the political signage that dots the streets of their home country, Portugal.

Speaking on the track, Brito comments: “Killing the Buzz came out pretty funny & sarcastic, while talking about a real subject. The song is about being fed up with people in power positions, be it economical, political or social.”

'Killing The Buzz' is released on neon-pink 7" vinyl on May 22nd via Hassle Records, backed with the exclusive and un-released track 'Turning Blue'.
